IT WAS MARCH 3rd, 1998 when I started to realize
this could be serious; Kristy Richards and I were seated on the tailgate of my
Chevy pick-up truck, and I asked her for a date.
The single adult conference was going to be over soon, and I
did not want the day to end. Kristy, feeling the same way told me the problem;
she had already scheduled a date with Aaron Egg, my younger brother for that
evening. I knew what I must do, so I stepped away from Kristy and called my
little brother.
“Aaron,” I dove right
in, “you know Kristy Richards, right?”
“Yes, sweet girl”
“You have a date with her tonight?”
“Yes, why?” Aaron said.
“I am here with her at this single adult conference; I’d really like to take her out on a date
tonight. Would you mind?” I said.
“JJ, you take her out; you’ll probably marry her.”
Kristy and I went out that night and were married on May 20th,
1998, just a little over 2 months later. We didn’t know it then, but we had
just over 4 years left with Aaron before he went back home. Enough time to be sealed to Alissa and Julia,
fulfilling promises given him in his patriarchal blessing.

The little baby Julia (in the picture above) is now a mother herself. Aaron is officially a grandfather.
Aaron worked for Egg Systems and was such was a remarkable confidant to Kristy and me. He was the highest paid technician in our company. His aptitude for HVAC and plumbing seemed to dazzle all of us. He and Alyssa were able buy a house and really sank down roots before discovering the brain tumors that would eventually take his life 2002.

Happy Birthday Aaron; I hope you know the good you’ve done. Your family misses you greatly. We will see you again in the eternities.
