Theron Egg III, Eagle Scout Leaving for 2 Year Mission to Sacramento, CA

Theron Egg III Directs the Flag-Pole Construction in 2015.  The Scouts Salute the Flag after Posting Colors

Theron Egg is almost 20 years old.  At the age of 14, he asked Disney Wilderness Preserve what improvements could be made to enhance the area.

Daniel Cole (FM) and Petra Royston (GM) both agreed that a new flagpole would be perfect for the Wilderness Preserve.

During the process Theron’s scoutmaster, James White suddenly passed away.  Theron decided to make the flagpole project a memorial to his name.  A plaque was placed to memorialize the events.

Now, 5 years later, Theron received a call to serve a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be reporting to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) on August 5th, 2020.

Theron wanted to visit the Disney Wilderness Preserve and get pictures; he’s not visited since setting the plaque, and he’s not so sure he’ll return to the site, and he wanted to see it one more time.  Since the Preserve is closed to visitors because of Covid 19, he made a special non-contact appointment to
come and visit the Preserve with his Mom and Dad on Friday, June 12th 2020.

“It brings back a lot of memories.  This project took almost a year including the placement of the plaque.  We had 3 separate work days or events here.  So many people from the community and from the Church supported me in this project.  I hope to bring my children here one day to show them what we did together.”

Bosch Thermo-Technology mentioned him in a case study written up about the Preserve. Bosch is a maker of geothermal heat pump equipment, which is used to heat and cool the buildings on site.  The case study mentions that Egg Geothermal was the consultant on the project, then goes on to say, “Egg’s son Theron recently provided a new taller flag pole in front of the buildings on which to proudly display the American flag as his Eagle Scout project.”

Theron Egg was Written Up in The Poinciana High School Newspaper for His Achievements

Theron was also written up in a full page spread in the Poinciana High School “Eagles” newspaper, “The Point”. The headline reads, “Student Defines Being and Eagle”. The story goes on to point out that Theron is a Poinciana Eagle, and he was also the “Eagle” mascot, and finally, that he attained the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts of America.

At the end of the article for the “Point”, when asked what his aspirations were, Theron said he’d likely serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

…and there he goes; off to Sacramento, California for two years!
