Elders Eggleston & Egg Companions in Sacramento
Theron Egg III received his mission call serve in Sacramento, CA early in 2020, and was set apart in August. He flew out after a Covid-related home-bound-training, and has fallen in love with the work, and his amazing companions in the field.  He still speaks in Memes, and we are constantly surprised by his stories.  He is serving in East Sacramento currently.

The Moral of the Story

I have watched my parents, myself, and my siblings as well as many of our children begin to become parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Oftentimes, becoming a parent whips us into shape. As we sat in the nursery that Hannah and Devin had prepared for Darwin recently, we saw it again. Everything in life changes for our children.

The reasons for that are in our divine nature. It is pre-destined to see the members of our family as eternal. We know that we can have a close association with our families forever. Successful families are always established and maintained on principles of trust, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, hard work, and lots of wholesome recreational activities. And we pray for one another. Because we care.

I took Kristy, against doctor’s orders across the country last Halloween to spend a week with Kevin and Erial and the grandbabies. Why? Because it had to be done.  We love our kids enough to take a risk sometimes. And now we've moved to Chandler, Arizona with Devin & Hannah as they prepare to have baby Darwin. Everything we do is a little crazy.  Somehow, it makes sense.

Merry Christmas to all of our family, friends, and to all who read this.  We hope that you may feel the Light of Christ in your life this Christmas Season.

Theron Egg III, Eagle Scout Leaving for 2 Year Mission to Sacramento, CA

Theron Egg III Directs the Flag-Pole Construction in 2015.  The Scouts Salute the Flag after Posting Colors

Theron Egg is almost 20 years old.  At the age of 14, he asked Disney Wilderness Preserve what improvements could be made to enhance the area.

Daniel Cole (FM) and Petra Royston (GM) both agreed that a new flagpole would be perfect for the Wilderness Preserve.

During the process Theron’s scoutmaster, James White suddenly passed away.  Theron decided to make the flagpole project a memorial to his name.  A plaque was placed to memorialize the events.

Now, 5 years later, Theron received a call to serve a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be reporting to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) on August 5th, 2020.

Theron wanted to visit the Disney Wilderness Preserve and get pictures; he’s not visited since setting the plaque, and he’s not so sure he’ll return to the site, and he wanted to see it one more time.  Since the Preserve is closed to visitors because of Covid 19, he made a special non-contact appointment to
come and visit the Preserve with his Mom and Dad on Friday, June 12th 2020.

“It brings back a lot of memories.  This project took almost a year including the placement of the plaque.  We had 3 separate work days or events here.  So many people from the community and from the Church supported me in this project.  I hope to bring my children here one day to show them what we did together.”

Bosch Thermo-Technology mentioned him in a case study written up about the Preserve. Bosch is a maker of geothermal heat pump equipment, which is used to heat and cool the buildings on site.  The case study mentions that Egg Geothermal was the consultant on the project, then goes on to say, “Egg’s son Theron recently provided a new taller flag pole in front of the buildings on which to proudly display the American flag as his Eagle Scout project.”

Theron Egg was Written Up in The Poinciana High School Newspaper for His Achievements

Theron was also written up in a full page spread in the Poinciana High School “Eagles” newspaper, “The Point”. The headline reads, “Student Defines Being and Eagle”. The story goes on to point out that Theron is a Poinciana Eagle, and he was also the “Eagle” mascot, and finally, that he attained the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts of America.

At the end of the article for the “Point”, when asked what his aspirations were, Theron said he’d likely serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

…and there he goes; off to Sacramento, California for two years!

Daddy Egg; The Older We Get, the Better He Was

Theron Egg Sr and wife Carol Egg cut the wedding cake; Theron Egg III and mom Kristy Egg, sending off on a mission.
Updated June 25th, 2022

It's Dad's 85th Birthday.

His grandson and namesake, Theron Egg III is on a mission.  His Cousin (my sister Carolyn's Son), Hunter Gonzales, is serving in Chile.  Did you know that "Theron" is greek for "Hunter"*? Hmmm. Coincidence?  I think not!

I've seen much of dad's characteristics in the younger Theron and other grandchildren; it's remarkable, and a wonderful way to remember Theron Jay Egg, Sr, who would be 85 today - Read on...

Quick Facts About Theron Egg, Sr

Occupation          Teacher
Born                     January 25, 1937

HOW IS IT THAT I'M 57 YEARS OLD this year, and I’m still just beginning to realize just how amazing my dad is?

My heart is filled with reverence for the labors and example of my dad. I revere him.  Memories of his example are etched deep into the fabric of my very being.  Any goodness in me can be traced back to his teachings and example.

I realize more all the time the impact of seemingly simple experiences with my dad that have impacted me.  One comes to memory from the fall of 1980.

Jay Egg Heading Out For a Date in the 1964 Dodge
I had a date with Susan Canazoles, and dad told me that I could take the 1964 Dodge Station Wagon. It had a push button transmission and no seat belts. People weren’t really taking the seat belt law serious anyway back in 1980.

I’m sure the date went well, and I returned home a little later than I had promised.  I seem to remember being pleased that it was not quite midnight when I walked into the well-lit (meaning dad was waiting up) living room of our ranch style home outside Barstow, Ca. I could see dad sitting back looking calm and content, even before the music registered in my ears.

Dad Was Playing "Van Halen" When I Came Home
“Van-Halen II” was playing on the brand new home stereo that dad had just purchased and set up.  Registering all of this in my mind, I grabbed the other recliner and enjoyed the lead guitar solo, pleased that my father was enjoying some of “my” music.  I wasn’t fooled for a minute. I knew this was his way of bonding, and I loved it. He listened to the entire album that night with me. We talked about the band’s impressive skills and the stories behind some of the songs; sometimes they were my stories and memories relating to the music. This was all about me, and I loved it. I remember it as an ever present experience, even closer than breathing; like he’s here right now.

Is it any wonder that I never complained once as I drove my kids to seminary and listened to hundreds of hours of the newest releases of their favorite music? What is amazing is that until this moment, I thought that I was pretty amazing for doing that with my kids. Pretty silly huh? …just when I think I’m “all-that”, I remember that my dad did it first. Chalk another one up for dad.  Oh, how I love him.

He’s with Father in Heaven now, which means that I have two “Fathers in Heaven”.  Their influence and imprint on what I have become is sweet and rich. No wonder, that Father in Heaven wants us “boys” to experience fatherhood. We begin to understand why it is that He (God, our Father) is so amazing as we pass our love forward to our families.

It’s times like these that I begin to understand the plan of happiness for us here.  I want to pass it forward with all my heart.  I want my family, and all with whom I come into contact to know what remarkable fathers I have.

*The meaning of Theron is 'hunter'. It is a gender-neutral name and is of Greek origin. The name derives from the Greek word 'therao', meaning 'to hunt'
