Hannah's Mission Call! (& Our Anniversary)

Hannah Received & Opened Her Mission Call on Feb 20, 2018
Hannah received her Mission call yesterday, and just a couple hours after, she had her closest friends from the young single adult ward at our house, opened her call to find that she would be returning for her mission to a place where her and a couple of her friends from YSA were only two weeks ago, Gilbert Arizona (they were visiting another friend, Kimber there).

Jay and Kristy Egg Were Sealed in Orlando on Feb 20, 1999
Also wonderful to note, it was the 19th anniversary of Kristy and I being sealed in the Orlando Temple. We had been married the prior May 20th civilly, because Kristy joined the church only two months before I met her in 1998.  Here’s a little back-story on that.

This was definitely an anniversary gift that we will remember for a very long time!

Kristy & Jay Egg Turn 21

Kristy Richards Egg

Updated March 13th, 2019
21 years ago today (March 13th, 2019), Kristy Richards met Jay Egg at a Single Adult Conference in Brandon, Florida.  Here's that backstory:

Kristy (Richards) Egg was baptized on January 11th, 1998. The day after Christmas, 1997, Kristy had the impression to seek a copy of the Book of Mormon. She made calls to the local LDS church, and to Salt Lake City, finally ending up with several call backs, and a teaching appointment at the local bar and grill with a couple of Elders.

The teaching appointment went well, and there are several funny points about that appointment, but the focus of this is that Kristy knew this was right. She accepted the challenge to read the Book of Mormon, and was baptized on January 11th, 1998.

The baptism was in the evening, after which she visited the Turner family with many children who had her over for dinner. She recalls that she had a couple or three more Sundays in Bradenton while living at her parent's house, before taking a position at the Joshua House in Brandon. She's always had a soft place in her heart for abused mothers and their children, and it was good therapy for her. Shortly thereafter, she took a position at a company called “SP Richards”. I think she worked at both locations by the time I met her.

The Padgett family in Brandon became close with Kristy and offered her the family environment she needed within the church at the time. Stan Padgett recommended she attend a singles conference taking place in Brandon on March 13th. This is the same conference that I had looked forward to for a couple of months.

Married May 20, 1998
This is where met Kristy the second time. The first time I had seen her was a few weeks before my brother, Aaron’s apartment. She had been over with several other young single adults having some type of fun gathering. I remember seeing Kristy seated on the couch, and thought to myself what a beautiful young lady, and that she was out of my league and too young.

When I came in to the single adult conference in Brandon on March 13th, 1998, Kristy was the first person that I remember seeing. We came to each other from across the chapel and embraced as if we were old friends. However I thought that she was only being patronizing, for the simple reason she was so beautiful and so much younger than I.

Sealed February 20, 1999
During the workshops for single adults that morning I focused my attention on ladies closer to my age, until around lunch time, I saw Kristy come into one of the doors of the chapel, a little bit disheveled, and her hands covered with black from having changed a tire. I asked her where she was going now, and she said that she was going home. This piqued my interest and I asked her why, and she said that it wasn't of interest to her, this youth conference. I said what if I drive you over to the picnic? She said she would enjoy that, and we stayed by each other the remainder of the day.

That evening at the banquet for single adults and the same chapel, I had danced with other single sisters that I thought would be of possible interest.  Before we really even got into the meal, Kristy asked me, would you like to get out of here? I said yes.

We went to a movie and I barely slept the next two weeks. I would say that we had fallen madly in love.

We were married on May 20th, 1998 and sealed the following February 20th, 1999. Kristy was 7 months pregnant with our first daughter Hannah. Hannah was born the following April 29th.

Volumes could be filled of the adventures we have enjoyed since that time. This first part needed to be written down for posterity.

I am so amazed at the mercy and grace of our Father in heaven and bringing Kristy and I together. That baptism 20 years ago, January 11th 1998 has been the catalyst for truly great works by a great woman.
